Today, July 22nd, 2025, a training on the safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults took place at Centre Christus for the collaborators of the Holy Trinity Chapel. Participants included readers, the morning Mass choir, volunteers, ministers of Holy Communion, employees of the Rwanda-Burundi Regional House, and security guards.
The session began with an opening prayer led by Fr. Emmanuel Ndorimana. It was introduced by the President of the Chapel Committee, who presented the day’s agenda and delivered the opening remarks to the attendees.
Each attendee introduced themselves as a way to foster mutual understanding and cohesion within the group. Seating arrangements were made according to participants’ specific roles within the chapel, in order to facilitate the group activities that were conducted throughout the training session.
Each team was given activities to work on, which they presented before the end of the session. The purpose was, first of all, to reflect on their mission, how it involves children and vulnerable adults, how they usually care for them, and how they can improve their contribution to safeguarding.
In addition, they discussed the challenges they face as collaborators and servants of the Holy Trinity Chapel, who serve Christians in different but interconnected ways to ensure their service is delivered with love and tenderness. The participants recognized that everyone’s contribution is essential and agreed to strengthen their cooperation.
“Safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults should not only concern you when you are serving at the Chapel; you should be concerned each and every moment you meet them,” said Marie Ange, Coordinator and Trainer for Child & Vulnerable Adult Safeguarding.
As servants of The Holy Trinity Chapel, our day was concluded by a celebration of the holy Eucharist, offering ourselves as a sacrifice for our salvation and of the people we serve for the greater Glory of God.
We are committed to raising awareness about safeguarding of children and vulnerable adults within the communities we work with contributes to the society in order to be a safe space for the vulnerable communities and children and future generations.
